AKFS Ltd is a privately owned company operating from two manufacturing sites. The head office and largest facility are in Clay Cross, Derbyshire, with a smaller site in Andover, Hampshire. Together, the business employs around 60 people and has plans for continued growth over the next five years.

Established in 2015 through the merger of Advanced Minibuses and KFS Special Vehicles, the company has built strong relationships with major LCV manufacturers and holds ongoing contracts with several fleet operators. This foundation has contributed to a period of sustained growth.

Welder / Fabricator
Full Time, Permanent

Clay Cross, Chesterfield

We are looking to recruit a skilled and reliable Welder/Fabricator to join our production team at our Clay Cross facility. This is a hands-on workshop role supporting the fabrication and assembly of components used across our light commercial vehicle conversion range.
You will need to be competent, accurate, and confident working with a variety of materials and welding processes in a busy manufacturing environment.

The successful candidate will be responsible for fabricating and assembling metal components using both MIG and TIG welding, with proven experience in aluminium welding being essential.

You will be expected to interpret engineering drawings, use precision tools to measure, cut and shape materials, and ensure all finished welds meet the required structural and specification standards. Safe and efficient use of fabrication equipment, hand tools, and workshop machinery is fundamental to the role.

You will work closely with colleagues across the production team to meet build schedules, solve technical challenges, and maintain high standards of workmanship. Strong attention to detail, good communication skills, and a methodical approach to tasks are essential, alongside the ability to follow all Health & Safety policies and practices at all times.

The company will provide support, training where required, and a positive workshop environment that values quality and teamwork.

Standard working hours are:
Monday to Thursday: 07:30 to 16:30
Friday: 07:30 to 12:30

However, the successful candidate may be expected to work outside of these hours as and when the business requires to meet production targets and expectations.

This is a full-time, permanent position offering £13.50–£15.00 per hour depending on experience, with an expected 39-hour working week, plus company pension and on-site parking.

Vehicle Assembler / Body Builder

Clay Cross, Chesterfield

We are looking to recruit enthusiastic and capable Vehicle Assemblers / Commercial Body Builders to join our production team at our Clay Cross facility. This is a hands-on, workshop-based role where you will contribute directly to the build and assembly of high-quality light commercial vehicle conversions for a wide range of industry sectors. You will need to be reliable, practical, and comfortable working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

The successful candidate will be involved in assembling LCV bodywork using a variety of materials including GRP, aluminium, and steel. You will be expected to demonstrate safe and competent use of tools such as drills, saws, rivet guns, huckbolt guns, and avtainer guns, with the ability to follow instructions methodically and produce work to a consistently high standard. A basic understanding of vehicle electrics would be an advantage, although not essential.

You will work closely with colleagues across the production department to ensure each build meets specification and quality expectations. The role requires strong attention to detail, good problem-solving skills, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. You must also be able to communicate effectively with colleagues at all levels and follow all company Health & Safety procedures at all times.

The company will provide full support and training where required, along with a collaborative and friendly workshop environment. This role is ideal for someone who is practical, adaptable, and enjoys varied, hands-on work.
