Ultra® 4500kg GVW Car Transporter

The Ultra® 4500kg GVW Car Transporter is a purpose-built vehicle transporter developed for operators who require increased carrying capacity for heavier vehicles and more demanding transport requirements.

As vehicle weights continue to evolve, particularly across larger cars, SUVs and battery electric vehicles, some operators are finding that the carrying capacity available within the 3500kg GVW category can restrict the vehicles and jobs they are able to accept.

The Ultra® 4500kg has been developed to help bridge the gap between a 3500kg transporter and larger 7200kg or 7500kg vehicles. It provides additional carrying capacity while retaining the lightweight engineering, practical loading characteristics and everyday usability associated with the established Ultra® range.

For operators whose requirements remain comfortably within the 3500kg category, the Ultra® 3500kg GVW Car Transporter continues to provide a lightweight, payload-efficient solution.

Why choose the Ultra® 4500kg Car Transporter?

The Ultra® 4500kg Car Transporter provides a practical step up for professional

vehicle recovery and transportation operators who require greater carrying capacity

without automatically moving to a substantially larger transporter.

By providing an additional option between the 3500kg and larger 7200kg or 7500kg

categories, the Ultra® 4500kg can help operators select a vehicle more closely

matched to the work being undertaken, particularly where heavier mainstream

vehicles form an increasing part of the workload.

FAQs

What is the Ultra® 4.5 tonne Car Transporter?

The Ultra® 4.5 tonne is the higher-GVW model within the AKFS Ultra® Car Transporter range. It has been developed for operators who require greater carrying capacity than a 3.5 tonne transporter can provide.

Why has AKFS introduced a 4.5 tonne Ultra®?

Vehicles are changing, and operators are increasingly being asked to transport cars that vary significantly in size and weight. The Ultra® 4.5 tonne provides another option for businesses that are beginning to find that a 3.5 tonne transporter can restrict the vehicles or jobs they are able to accept.

What is the difference between the 3.5 tonne and 4.5 tonne Ultra®?

The key difference is GVW and carrying capacity. The Ultra® 3.5 tonne is designed around a 3.5 tonne GVW platform, while the Ultra® 4.5 tonne provides additional carrying capacity for operators transporting heavier vehicles or requiring greater flexibility across their workload.

Is the Ultra® 4.5 tonne suitable for transporting electric vehicles?

The increased carrying capacity of the Ultra® 4.5 tonne can provide greater flexibility when transporting heavier vehicles, including many electric vehicles. Suitability will always depend on the actual weight and specification of the vehicle being transported, together with the final specification and operating weight of the transporter.

Are electric vehicles heavier than petrol or diesel vehicles?

Many battery electric vehicles are heavier than equivalent or similarly sized petrol and diesel vehicles because of the additional weight associated with their battery systems. Vehicle weights vary significantly by make, model and specification, so operators should always confirm the actual vehicle weight before transport.

Who is the Ultra® 4.5 tonne designed for?

It is designed for professional vehicle transport and recovery operators who require greater carrying capacity, whether because they regularly transport heavier vehicles, want greater flexibility across their workload or are finding that a 3.5 tonne transporter increasingly limits the jobs they can accept.

Should I choose a 3.5 tonne or 4.5 tonne car transporter?

The right transporter depends on how it will be used and which vehicles you need to transport. For many operators, the Ultra® 3.5 tonne will continue to provide the right solution. Where heavier vehicles form a greater part of the workload, or additional carrying capacity is required, the Ultra® 4.5 tonne may be more suitable. Speak with Tom McGeown, our Car Transporter Product Specialist, and we can help assess the most appropriate specification for your operation.

What is the payload of the Ultra® 4.5 tonne?

The Ultra® 4.5 tonne has an unladen weight from 2052kg. Actual available payload will depend on the final vehicle specification, fitted options and operating condition. Tom McGeown can confirm the expected payload for your chosen specification.

Does the Ultra® 4.5 tonne replace the need for a 7.2 or 7.5 tonne transporter?

Not necessarily. The Ultra® 4.5 tonne has been developed to provide an additional option between the 3.5 tonne and larger 7.2 or 7.5 tonne categories. For operators whose typical workload includes heavier mainstream vehicles but does not always require the capacity of a larger transporter, the Ultra® 4.5 tonne can provide a more appropriately sized solution.
