Ford Transit Drop & Go® Traffic Management Vehicle

Built on the Ford Transit L4 Skeletal Chassis, the Ford Transit Drop & Go® Traffic Management Vehicle combines the proven AKFS low-floor concept with the practicality and familiarity of the Transit platform. Designed for demanding traffic management operations, it provides a compact, operator-focused solution for the safe transport and deployment of signs, signals and associated roadside equipment.

The low-floor body configuration supports easier loading and unloading while reducing unnecessary lifting and manual handling during day-to-day operations. An assisted rear tailgate, integrated wheel-box storage and telescopic protection rails further improve access, organisation and usability on site.

With a durable, slip-resistant load floor, practical storage and a body layout designed around roadside working, the Ford Transit Drop & Go® TMV delivers the core benefits of the wider Drop & Go® range in a Ford-based package suited to a broad range of traffic management applications.

We use the Drop & Go® vehicles to deploy traffic management, and the reduced body
height has greatly helped with manual handling and team safety. Manual handling is always
at the forefront of our team briefs due to the nature of our work, and the Drop & Go® has
helped reduce risk when unloading.
‍
The rear ramp and reduced body height work well together, helping reduce manual handling
during unloading. On the reactive contract I currently manage, the ability to use these
vehicles across different tasks has been a real benefit.
‍
Not having tail lifts has also been useful, as LOLER testing is not required for a tail lift. It also
reduces weight on the rear axle, helping to save costs on testing and related parts.
