Drop & Go® Urban Traffic Management Vehicle
Designed specifically for urban traffic management operations, the Drop & Go® Urban combines the proven low-floor concept of the standard Drop & Go® with a narrower body configuration suited to restricted streets, residential areas and other space-constrained environments.
With a compact overall width and a low 550 mm bed height, the Urban supports easier access for operatives while helping crews manoeuvre more effectively through narrow roads and tighter working areas. Its assisted tailgate and practical load-bed layout also support the handling of wheeled traffic signals and associated equipment.
Despite its reduced footprint, the Drop & Go® Urban retains the core operational benefits of the wider Drop & Go® range, including slip-resistant aluminium flooring, operator-focused access and a practical body layout designed around day-to-day traffic management use.
Why Choose the Drop & Go® Urban Traffic Management Vehicle
The Drop & Go® Urban is designed for traffic management teams operating in restricted urban environments where vehicle width, manoeuvrability and safe equipment access are critical. Its compact body configuration, low-floor design and practical load area help crews work efficiently without sacrificing the core functionality expected from the Drop & Go® range.

FAQs
The Drop & Go® Urban TMV is designed for traffic management operations in restricted urban environments, including narrow streets, side roads, mews and residential areas. Its narrower body helps crews operate in locations where a conventional-width traffic management vehicle may be less practical.
The Urban TMV uses a narrower body specifically intended for restricted streets and tighter working environments. It retains the low-floor access benefits of the Drop & Go® design while providing a more compact overall vehicle width for urban traffic management operations.
The Urban TMV has an internal body width of approximately 1,960 mm and an external body width of approximately 2,170 mm. Its narrower profile is intended to make the vehicle more practical in restricted urban streets and other tighter working environments.
The load bed is approximately 550 mm from the ground. This low step-on height provides easier access to the load area and supports the loading and unloading of traffic management equipment.
The Urban TMV can be specified with an assisted tailgate and kerbside loading ramp to support the loading and unloading of wheeled traffic-light systems. A fixed rear gantry configuration is not available on the Urban model.
The Urban TMV has a kerb weight from approximately 2,100 kg. The final usable payload will depend on the selected chassis, completed vehicle specification and optional equipment fitted.
Standard equipment includes slip-resistant aluminium flooring, removable fall-arrest bars, a roof-mounted LED lightbar, front and rear amber LED strobes, an audible reversing alarm, reversing camera, LED work lights and Chapter 8 graphics.
Options include a multiple-camera system, DVR recording, additional telescopic handrails, additional LED work lights and strobes, an assisted tailgate, kerbside loading ramp, towbar assembly and LP13 light arrow board.
The Drop & Go® Urban Traffic Management Vehicle is available on Fiat and Peugeot base vehicles. If a specific chassis requirement applies, this can be discussed with the AKFS team as part of the vehicle specification.
Still have questions?
The Drop & Go® has significantly improved the efficiency of our traffic management
operations. It allows crews to deploy and recover equipment much more quickly than
traditional traffic management vehicles, reducing setup and collection times and helping
operatives focus on the task rather than handling cumbersome equipment.
Feedback from our operatives has been extremely positive. The loading and unloading
process is much safer and more ergonomic, reducing manual handling risks and fatigue. The
vehicle layout provides excellent accessibility to equipment, and the compact design makes
manoeuvring in urban environments, narrow roads and residential areas considerably easier
than traditional TM vehicles.
Since introducing the Drop & Go®, we have increasingly favoured this type of vehicle for a
number of our urban and utility-based traffic management operations. The practical benefits,
ease of deployment and operational efficiencies have demonstrated clear advantages over
more traditional traffic management vehicle concepts, particularly for lower-speed works and
reactive maintenance activities.
The Drop & Go® has become an integral part of our fleet strategy, and the positive feedback
from both operatives and clients has reinforced its long-term value.
