FAQs

What is the Drop & Go® Low Floor Traffic Management Vehicle designed for?

The Drop & Go® is designed to transport operatives, mobile traffic signals and associated traffic management equipment. Its low-floor layout provides easier access to the load area and supports efficient loading and unloading.

How low is the load bed?

The load bed is approximately 550mm from the ground, providing a low step-on height for operatives and easier access to equipment.

Does the vehicle need a tail lift?

No. The low-floor design allows mobile traffic signals and associated equipment to be loaded without a conventional tail lift, using the spring-assisted tailgate. A detachable kerbside loading ramp can also be specified where required.

What payload is available?

The vehicle is available at 3,500kg GVW and has an approximate kerb weight from 2,050kg. The final usable payload depends on the selected chassis, body length and completed vehicle specification, and must allow for the driver, fuel, passengers, equipment and any optional features fitted.

What load-bed lengths are available?

Load-bed lengths are available from approximately 3,900mm to 4,500mm, allowing the body dimensions to be selected around the intended equipment and operating requirements.

Which chassis or base vehicles are available?

The Drop & Go® Low Floor Traffic Management Vehicle is available using Fiat Ducato or Peugeot Boxer base vehicles fitted with an AL-KO low-floor chassis conversion.

What safety and visibility equipment is included?

Standard safety and visibility equipment includes a slip-resistant aluminium ribbed floor, a 700mm LED light bar, rear and grille-mounted amber LED flashers, an audible reversing alarm, a reversing camera, two work lights and Chapter 8 markings.

What optional equipment can be added?

Options include multiple or additional cameras, DVR camera recording, additional work lights, strobe lights, additional amber beacons, a fixed rear gantry, sign rack, detachable side loading ramp, towbar with 7- or 13-pin electrics and an LP13 Mini Light Arrow Board.

Can the vehicle tow?

Yes. A towbar with 7- or 13-pin electrics can be specified on Fiat and Peugeot base vehicles, with a towing capacity of up to 2,000kg. The permitted towing capacity must always be confirmed against the completed vehicle specification and operating requirements.

How does it differ from a conventional dropside traffic management vehicle?

The main difference is the approximately 550mm load-floor height. Compared with a conventional dropside traffic management vehicle, the lower floor provides easier access to the load area and reduces the need for separate lifting equipment when loading and unloading mobile traffic signals and associated equipment.

Can the vehicle be built around the customer’s equipment?

Yes. The body length, access arrangements, lighting, cameras and traffic management equipment can be configured around the intended use, subject to the available payload, chassis limits and final vehicle specification.

Still have questions?

The Drop & Go® has made ingress and egress easier and safer for our operatives, while the
increased payload compared with our previous vehicles allows us to meet more customer
requirements with fewer vehicles on site.

The lower body height makes equipment easier to access, and our vehicle specification
allows equipment to be stored in designated areas, helping to reduce damage and wear
while improving load security.

Before adopting the Drop & Go®, we primarily used traditional Transit flatbed and Mercedes-
Benz Sprinter dropside vehicles. Since discovering the Drop & Go® in 2015, we have
continued to order more than 52 vehicles over the last 10 years, and we have phased out
our older traffic management vehicles. For us, the Drop & Go® is now a mandatory vehicle
requirement, not an option.
